Pet Surgery

At Companion Care Pet Hospital, we are well-equipped and prepared to handle all of your pet’s surgical care needs. Our hospital is outfitted with cutting-edge equipment and our knowledgeable team is experienced in the most modern surgical techniques.

pet surgery

When your pet needs surgery, we understand that it can be a stressful time. We want to make the procedure as easy on your pet as possible and the post-operative care easy on you. We start all of our surgeries or anesthetic procedures with a pre-anesthetic exam. Pre-anesthetic blood work is evaluated prior to anesthesia and then your pet’s veterinarian determines the best and safest anesthetic protocol for your pet.

All of our anesthetic procedures are monitored by an experienced veterinary nurse and the patient’s blood pressure, ECG, blood oxygen levels, and CO2 are measured with specialized equipment. Extra care is taken to minimize discomfort after the procedure, including smaller incisions when able, gentle tissue handling, and ensuring a comfortable recovery. Laser surgery is offered for many surgical procedures and post-operative pain management is augmented with cold laser therapy when applicable.

Surgical Procedures

Some of the many surgeries routinely performed in our state of the art surgical suite include:

  • General Surgery
  • Routine Spay & Neuter
  • Full Mouth Dental Extractions
  • Soft Tissue Surgeries (including foreign body removal, tumor removal, cystotomy, pyometra)
  • Ophthalmic Surgery
  • Orthopedic Surgery
After The Surgery

Once your pet’s procedure is complete, we will gently move them to the recovery area of our hospital, where we will continue to monitor them as the anesthesia begins to wear off. A member of our staff will contact you to let you know how the surgery went and arrange a time to come retrieve your pet. When you arrive, we’ll go over our aftercare instructions, which may include a customized pain management plan to help make the recovery process as comfortable as possible for your pet.

After returning home with your loved one, please do not hesitate to call us if any questions or concerns arise about the surgery or recovery process. Help is always just a phone call away!
